He misses her and wants to spend more time with her the women he loves, but she has to work late going to sleep almost at once when she arrives. He lets her sleep because he knows she needs it but sits up wishing that they had more time together. Feeling helpless and trapped living a life with no  time for love.
Just my interpretation of it,but the picture is deep everyone can take something different out of it.
